Call for entries: EFM Toolbox Program

News 16. Oct 25

We’re excited to announce the next round of our collaboration with the European Film Market (EFM) Toolbox program at the Berlinale! We’re seeking producers based in Hesse from marginalized communities who want to join either the Fiction Toolbox or Doc Toolbox program at the 2026 EFM in Berlin.

The Toolbox program, an EFM initiative for diversity and inclusion, aims to empower filmmakers from underrepresented backgrounds by providing pathways into the international film industry. Through access to market insights, essential business tools, and networks, the program breaks down barriers and helps participants find their footing on the global stage.

This intensive program offers participants access to valuable networking and matchmaking events, along with hands-on workshops and industry contacts.

Who should apply:

EFM Toolbox is geared towards emerging fiction or documentary film producers who want to expand their network and deepen their knowledge of the international film market. We are looking for one Hessian producer each - from marginalized and underrepresented groups - to take part in the Fiction and Doc Toolbox programm.

Ideally, you

- are part of a group underrepresented in the Hessian film industry,
- have one or more film projects in various stages of development,
- have practical experience in film production,
- and are professionally proficient in English.

Apply if you are looking to gain knowledge, tools, and networks in the international film business! When selecting participants, the need for participation in the programme will be taken into account.

If you are unsure whether you are a suitable candidate for application, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Program schedule:

Starting in December 2025, the program includes online workshops and individual coaching, leading up to the EFM in Berlin from February 12-18, 2026. Participants can expect project consultations, workshops on topics like pitching, financing, distribution, and industry insights, along with networking and matchmaking events at the EFM.

Important dates:

Early December to mid-January: Ten required online workshops (scheduled for December 8-12 and January 12-16), along with two optional workshops and community-building sessions before the EFM.

February 12-18: On-site participation at the EFM in Berlin.

Application:

For selected participants, we’ll cover the program fee, market badge, travel, and accommodation costs in Berlin.

Application deadline: October, 30

Your application should include a short motivation letter, project materials, a synopsis, visual materials (if available), and a CV.
