Today, Büdingen is one of the best-preserved historic townscapes in Germany. The town is particularly well known for its medieval old town and castle. As the town, situated on the eastern edge of the Wetterau, has survived the events of the past almost unscathed, its cohesive townscape offers the rare opportunity to experience a development that has grown organically over the centuries. For this reason, various buildings in the town, including the castle built in the 12th century, have been continuously adapted to the prevailing architectural styles of the time, from the Romanesque to the Baroque.

Büdingen’s Old Town is a public location and is managed by the Public Order Office of the Town of Büdingen. For filming permits and enquiries, please contact the town council.
