Even from a considerable distance, the impressive Limburg Cathedral and its seven towers can be seen perched on the Limburg limestone cliff. Limburg Cathedral, also known as St George’s Cathedral, was consecrated in 1235. Its architecture combines elements of the Rhenish Romanesque style, which had been predominant up to that point, with the technically sophisticated Gothic style. Both inside and out, Limburg Cathedral is a visual spectacle.
