Frankfurt LAB

The Frankfurt LAB is a rehearsal and production space for contemporary performing arts and music. It is located in a former factory building from the 1950ies. Its two ground-floor halls, which have been converted for professional theatre and concert use, are accessible via a central hallway that also leads to the foyer, terrace, office, and ancillary rooms. The foyer — equipped with tables, chairs, benches, a coat check, a bar, and access to the restrooms — and the spacious covered terrace with lush vegetation provide space for introductions, artist talks, receptions, or opening-night celebrations and can accommodate approximately 60 people. Hall 1 is 652 m² and has a black pitch pine floor, a water spray system and a rigsystem with a total load capacity of 3,8 metric tons. The stage area is 15m wide and 17m deep. The walls have a light colour, but the hall can be turned into a black box with a textile curtain. The hall’s equipment includes a mobile seated stand accommodating 210 spectators in the standard setup. Video equipment, a lighting rig and a sound system are part of the basic technical equipment. Hall 2 covers an area of 226 m². It has a black pitch pine floor, a rail switch system and a black panorama backdrop. It is equipped with light and sound systems and video technology. The mobile seated stand seats 74 persons. Both halls have dressing rooms and showers. Deliveries are made through a roll-up door facing the street or via the main entrance.
