A historic residential house on the Mathildenhöhe in the heart of Darmstadt. Haus Kempin was built in 1911 according to the designs of the architect Heinrich Metzendorf. The client was the painter Kurt Kempin. The house, which includes an artist’s studio, is stylistically rooted in country house architecture and features elements of Art Nouveau.
Open-plan living and dining area, flowing layout ideal for camera movement. Rounded bay-style window area, perfect for reading corners and decorative staging. It adds architectural character and soft natural light. Modern kitchen with a large work surface and a small serving-style interior window that looks into the living room, maintaining visual connection between both spaces. Three bathrooms, offering flexibility for cast and crew. Second floor with three separate rooms. Attic space (shooting possible upon request). Lush garden with abundant greenery (nowadays partially shielding the house from outside view). The vegetation gives the property a secluded, slightly timeworn charm, romantic and tranquil. The building has a gabled roof that extends deeply over two storeys and is covered with traditional beaver-tail tiles. The exterior appearance is defined by wood-clad gables, a decorative wooden trellis, and finely crafted ornamental details. The base is made of rusticated sandstone from the Odenwald region.
