Wasserkuppe

If you want to see the highest point in Hesse, you have to head east – the Wasserkuppe near Poppenhausen, at 950 metres, is not only the highest mountain in the Rhön, but also the highest in Hesse. Modern gliding was invented on this so-called ‘Mountains of the Aviators’, and the Wasserkuppe also offers breathtaking views stretching as far as the Rothaar Mountains and the Taunus.

The Wasserkuppe is a public venue and is managed by the Public Order Office of the town of Poppenhausen. Please contact this office regarding filming permits and enquiries.
