A vibrant filmmaking location is more than the sum of its parts. It stands for diverse and high-quality stories, well-trained filmmakers, projects and collaborations that prove to make a talking point beyond the state's borders, and film funding that can respond to the needs of the industry. In addition to classic project funding, we aim to strengthen structures at the location through other levers:
We engage in cultural and media policy issues, leverage synergies through cooperation with regional, national and European partners and targeted public relations work.
We regularly organize seminars and workshops and represent the film state of Hesse at various festivals in the region, in Germany and around the world. Other important levers of the strategic development of Hesse as a filmmaking location include networking and training platforms, the Film Commission and location marketing. While doing so, we strongly focus on creative freedom and responsible ways of production: in terms of working conditions, diversity and ecological sustainability.
