film.powers.diversity.

We want films funded in Hesse to increasingly reflect social diversity and do justice to the internationality of the location as well as the realities of life of the people living in Hesse.

We regularly invite the film industry as well us our team to workshops and events in which we further educate ourselves on the basics of anti-discrimination and equal opportunities.
In addition, juries also receive a diversity-sensitive briefing. We provide diversity-sensitive mentoring and promote diversity-sensitive consulting for projects, childcare during filming, the consultation of experts such as intimacy coordinators, green consultants or anti-discrimination officers, as well as discrimination-critical editing in the development of screenplays.

WE HAVE LAUNCHED THE EVENT SERIES FILM.POWERS.DIVERSITY. TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO MORE DIVERSITY IN FILM.

In workshops and panels we focus on different forms of racism and discrimination as well as concrete possibilities for action for film and media professionals. All events are free of charge for the industry and take place in cooperation with experts in the respective fields.

In doing so, we are also addressing the results of the first nationwide survey on diversity in film from 2021, which reveals structural discrimination in the industry and a great need for action in the working environment of film and TV productions. According to the survey, a majority of respondents report experiencing discrimination in the work context, while more than three quarters of respondents find that People of Color and Black people, for example, or even people of low social status are predominantly shown in negatively charged stereotypical roles that can reinforce prejudice and discrimination.
