Schloss Braunfels

In the middle of the green of the Lahn-Dill district in central Hesse, the romantic Braunfels Castle rises on a basalt rock and seems to have been cut out of a fairy tale book. Owned by the family for almost 800 years, the castle is now a living cultural monument, rich in special art treasures and still inhabited by the family today. In the 1980s, Prince Georg and Princess Emanuela had the castle fundamentally redesigned in the historicist style. Since then, predominantly Romanesque and Gothic elements have adorned the spacious ensemble, forming a fairytale castle with numerous towers, battlements and bay windows. From the deepest cellar to the highest tower, it's not just the Middle Ages that can be brought to life!
