Erst seit der Mitte des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts gibt es in Habitzheim das Hofgut als landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb. Es ist jedoch den alten Gemäuern unschwer anzusehen, dass sie aus sehr viel älteren Zeiten stammen.
Schon im 12. Jahrhundert ist an dieser Stelle eine Burg erwähnt, die als Vorwerk zur Veste Otzberg ebenso wie diese dem Kloster Fulda gehörte.
Zu den Gebäuden des Hofguts zählen die Burg, in der der historische gelbe Saal liegt, das Gutshaus, das als Wohnhaus und Gästehaus fungiert, der zum Festsaal ausgebaute Gewölbestall, eine Fereinwohnung, eine alte Schmiede/Brennerei deren Schornstein verlässlich als Storchennistplatz genutzt wird, ein Scheunenflügel, der zum Gesundheitszentrum ausgebaut wurde, sowie weitere Hallen und Dachböden, die noch nicht ausgebaut sind bzw. als landwirtschaftliche Hallen genutzt werden. Angrenzend liegen Felder sowie großzügige Gärten und ein Innenhof mit altem Pflaster und Wiesenflächen.
The estate in Habitzheim has only existed as an agricultural business since the middle of the nineteenth century. However, it is easy to see that these buildings come from ancient times.
A castle is mentioned here as early as the 12th century, which, as an outwork for Veste Otzberg, also belonged to the Fulda monastery.
The buildings of the farm include the castle, in which the historic yellow hall is located, the manor house, which is used as a residential building and guest house, the vaulted stables converted into a ballroom, a holiday apartment, an old forge/distillery whose chimney is reliably used as a stork nesting place. One Barn wing that was converted into a health center, as well as other halls and attics that have not yet been converted or are used as agricultural halls. Adjacent are fields and spacious gardens and an inner courtyard with old paving and lawns.
